The marking station acts as the infeed section of the measuring station. It consists of two tables on either side of the infeed conveyor. The left table slides.

Measuring Station: This is the section of the machine that the wood passes through so that an encoder and fluorescent sensor can determine the  length of the boards and the location of the fluorescent marks placed by the graders.

The saw is a very robustly constructed part of the machine that actually cuts the defects out of the wood and also cuts the various parts to length. The saw is controlled by the computers which receive information from an array of encoders, proximity sensors, photo eyes, and other devices.
